In Tehri, shooting of Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu has been going on. Tehri is situated in Uttarakhand. Close to the shooting location, accommodation has been arranged for the lead actors at a local’s house. Luxuries of hotel rooms have been denied by the actors on the occasion.
By a source, it has been said “The producers toyed with the idea of a five-star initially, but realized that the closest ones are in Dehradun. The conveyance would have been a hassle since the location is a three hour-plus drive from Dehradun. That’s when Shahid and the producers decided to opt for homestay. When they suggested the idea to Shraddha, she instantly agreed.”
Later on, the source has added “Shahid opined that staying close to the locals would help Shraddha and him pick up their dialect, which would lend an air of authenticity to their characters”
Both the cast and crew have been staying in 10 houses that have been chosen by producers. The movie revolves around the idea of power theft. Shahid will be seen in an avatar of a lawyer in the movie. Vicky Donor actress Yami Gautam will be seen as a lawyer also who is fighting against Shahid in court. Cast will be joined by Yami soon.
Shahid has told us “Shree Narayan Singh, in Toilet Ek Prem Katha, talked about issues women faced with open defecation. Now he has chosen the electricity issue which will make the film very relatable to the common man. The story is based in Uttarakhand so I will be using a certain accent and dialect for the film. After playing a King, I will be seen as a small city lawyer.”
