Stree makers have decided to make another movie from their horror comedy franchise that is spearheaded by Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree. Second installment from the franchise is titled Roohi. Rajkummar Rao is going to be seen in a goofy avatar once again while Janhvi is playing the female lead. Fukrey fame actor Varun Sharma is part of the movie too. Premise of the story is very interesting as it is said a ghost possesses a bride just after her marriage.
Through the trailer, it is shown how Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma have been dealing with the scary bride ghost inside Janhvi Kapoor. On the occasion, the ghost is wreaking havoc and Rajkummar – Varun duo has been trying every trick available in the book to get rid of the ghost.
Prior to the trailer release, Rajkummar Rao has also shared couple of posters from the movie with a caption that says “ye to bas muh dikhai hai (this is just the first look).”
In the first look poster of Roohi, you may able to see face of Varun Sharma and Rajkummar Rao while face of the bride has been hidden with a red dupatta. Caption says, “Dulhan ki tarah sajenge Theatres. Magar Dulha le jaegi #Roohi! Iss Bhootiya Shaadi mein aapka swagat hai! (The theatres will deck up like a bride but Roohi will steal the groom. Welcome to this scary wedding) #MagicOfCinemaReturns; movie releases 11th March.”
Jio Studios and Maddiock Films are releasing the movie in theatres and it has been directed by Hardik Mehta. Mrighdeep Singh Lamba has written the script of the movie and he is also co-producer of this movie.
According to producer Dinesh Vijan from Maddock Films, horror comedy is expected to go a notch higher with this movie. He has said, “While Stree was a genre bending tale that gave audiences something never seen before, Roohi takes this vision a step further by offering the same brand of spine chilling scares and quirky comedy”
Release of Roohi has been scheduled last year. However, it has to be postponed due to coronavirus lockdown. Now, it is expected to release in 1500 screens across India.
