Shocking!!! Isn’t it? However, it is true. Production house named Phantom Films by Anurag Kasyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Motwane will be dissolved. The production house has started in the year 2011. Now, four of them have decided to go on their separate ways seven years after.
By Phantom Films, Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh starrer Lootera is the first movie that has been produced. The movie has not been a successful one at the box office. However, lot of critical acclaim has been received by this movie. Through the movie Lootera, another side of Ranveer Singh has been showcased.
Later, several others have been produced by Phantom Films such as Gangs of Wasseypur, Masaan, Queen and Udta Punjab. Some of these movies have not worked well at the box office. However, all these movies have been appreciated by the critics. In the international film festivals, these movies have done exceedingly well.
In addition, Phantom Films has produced recent web-series in digital platform Netflix called Sacred Games starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte. Both Anurag Kasyap and Vikramaditya Motwane have directed this web series in a collaborative manner. Now, second season of this web series has been announced also.
However, dissolution of Phantom Films has certainly put the future of The Sacred Games season 2 in jeopardy.
Now, the question is why they have decided to split.
Four partners of Phantom Films are expected to stay cordial even in the future. Issues between the partners have started following to the sexual harassment case against Vikas Bahl.
According to the source, “The four started having ego issues post that and the last nail in the coffin was when Anurag recently commented that he is not on talking terms with Vikas and that despite being in the same company, they work separately. Post this, they decided to part ways for real.”
Anurag Kasyap has announced about the split on Twitter and said, “Phantom was a dream, a glorious one and all dreams come to an end . We did our best and we succeeded and we failed. But i know for sure we will come out of this stronger, wiser and will continue to pursue our dreams our own individual ways. We wish each other the best.”
