Release date of Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi is announced with a teaser on 73rd birthday anniversary of Jayalalithaa

Release of Thalaivi, a biopic on the life Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha has been scheduled on 26th June, 2020. However, it is delayed due to coronavirus pandemic. Now, fans have been waiting eagerly for the new release date of the movie. Now, lead actress of the movie Kangana Ranaut has announced the revised release date of Thalaivi on the 73th birth anniversary of Jayalalitha.

Coming to Twitter, Tanu Weds Manu actress Kangana Ranaut has shared a teaser from her upcoming movie Thalaivi and said “To Jaya Amma, on her birth anniversary Witness the story of the legend, #Thalaivi, in cinemas on 23rd April, 2021.” In the teaser, Jayalalitha has been introduced with a line that says ‘Filmo me aayi to, cinema ki taswir badal di, Politics me aakar, Tamil Nadu ki taqdeer badal di, apni kahani khud likhkar wo naya itihaas rach gayi, karodo ka naseeb badal kar wo ban gayi, Thalaivi”

 

Before the lockdown, Kangana has been working on the movie Thalaivi. It is directed by Vijay. In order to look perfect for the part, Kangana has gained almost 20 kilos of weight. During the lockdown, she has gone through vigorous physical training in order to lose those extra kilos.

Previously, it is heard that Thalaivi is going to release through OTT platform solely as several filmmakers have been taking the route during this troubled time. However, makers have said now that the movie will indeed get a theatrical release. It is a bi-lingual movie that is going to release in Hindi and Tamil. Through the movie, journey of Jayalalitha from the silver screen to political arena is going to be captured. In addition to Kangana, Prakash Raj, Aravind Swami, Bhagyashree and Madhoo is also part of the movie.
