Sarabhai vs Sarabhai Take 2 was a much awaited web series for those who have watched its earlier version. The web series however didn’t receive a similar response. Ratna Pathak Shah, who plays the sassy Maya Sarabhai, told Midday, “I haven’t thought much about the response we’ve been getting since a few more episodes are are yet to release. Besides, I am not on social media. So, I don’t know how the opinion is panning out. I won’t deny that there have been mixed reactions, largely positive, but there are a few who feel that the second season is not quite like the first.”

She adds, “We were all 10 years younger when the first season released. There is a different worldview now. But while shooting for the second season, the shift was seamless. We had a good time and I feel the script is well-written.” Talking about the show’s popularity, she said, “Back then, even though it was the funniest show on air, the TRPs were low; no one saw our show. It was only when it came online that people started discussing it. I feel hum log lambi race ke ghode hain. I am sure we will do well eventually.”

Well, we quite agree with the actress on this. Ratna will next be seen in Lipstick Under My Burkha in a very challenging role. She also has quite a few Bollywood films in her bag. But we’re super excited to see her in Lipstick Under My Burkha. Speaking about her role in the film, she told Scroll.in, “For one, a woman her age wanting to learn how to swim…I thought it is such a gracious idea, I really fell for that idea. She could have wanted to do anything else, for instance. Learning to drive, perhaps? But swimming has such poetry to it somehow. It also appealed to me personally. I’m very scared of water. Throughout my life, I’ve wanted to be a swimmer but never got down to it. For me, Usha and all the other characters represent the idea of overcoming fears.”
