Do you know how Shah Rukh Khan prefers to depict his all-new gangster flick, Raees? In the style of Raees’ dialogue like “Baniye ka dimaag aur Miyanbhai ki daring” (clever as a merchant, and daring as a muslim) as the film based on bootlegging business in Gujarat.
Now, we must say that this dialogue is also applicable for the first day collection on box office for this film. Shah Rukh Khan knows the box office very well. In fact, his production house Red Chillies Entertainment is also one of the producers of the film and hence, Khan knew of the pulse of Raees business and was never afraid to release the film against Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil.
In the opening day, Raees earned more than Rs 20 crore which was almost double to Kaabil. Kaabil’s first day earning barely reached Rs 10 crore.
Of course, there was reason behind such slow business for Kaabil. Reports say that Raees was released in 2,800 screens whereas Kaabil managed to open in 2,400 screens. That means Raees got 40% more occupancy than Kaabil.
Going to the flashback, we could recall that Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik had a face off also in the past. In 2000, the clash between Mohabbatein and Mission Kashmir showed that Shah Rukh’s Mohabbatein made Rs 90 crore, while Hrithik-starrer Mission Kashmir earned Rs 43 crore.
Even for the next few days, Raees is expected to beat Kaabil in term of earning if the viewers will consider the reviews as the indicator of these two films to understand the commercial success of the films. We got to catch some reviews stating that Raees is so far ‘Khan’s best performance ever’. Another powerful addition of this film is Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s role as the cop as it is quite praiseworthy.
According to famous film critic Anupama Chopra, Raees gets ‘roller-coaster rise’ where she remarks about Kaabil that ‘Hrithik Roshan saves it from becoming ordinary’.
Here, we must remember that Hrithik’s last release before Kaabil was Mohenjo Daro that couldn’t do well in the box office. His last big hit was Bang Bang released in 2014 and now he really needs a mega hit.
Although all the film analysts assume that it is tough for Raees to touch the magic figure Rs 383 earned by Aamir Khan’s Dangal.
However, in the box office battle, till now Shah Rukh Khan proves that he is the ultimate Bollywood king as his Raees is already getting advantage of its clash against Kaabil.
