Radhika Apte In Short Film

Every time Radhika Apte has proved her acting skills whatever she has done yet. This time she make some powerful statement on the pregnant employees in the corporate world that has created enough stir in gender bias society with her short film, called ‘The Calling’.

Popular fashion portal Myntra has released this short film with the aim of focusing the pregnancy-based prejudices often seen at workplaces. Earlier Myntra released another ad film that created much controversy as it was based on the social taboo of homosexuality.

This short film titled as ‘The Calling’ for Anouk presentation is the sequel of the trilogy of films for ethnic wear brand where they want to convey the message “Bold is beautiful”, as it has already dealt with the sensitive issues like eve-teasing, single parenting and choices about women’s relationships.

The duration of this short film is hardly about two minutes where Uma (Shernaz Patel), a senior architect of an organization gives lift in her car to her pregnant colleague Shaheen ( Radhika Apte). En route, Shaheen boldly conveys to Uma about the discrimination she has to face for her pregnancy.

At the end of the film, we are quite impressed with Radhika who boldly delivers the message to all that woman has enough capability to manage both the roles- as a mother and a worker with enough self-confidence.

From today, this two-minute film is aired in the digital platforms. “I truly believe in the brand’s philosophy of celebrating the bold and beautiful attitude of Indian women. I loved the simple yet powerful script and felt myself being completely involved in narrating the story of a pregnant woman who takes her choices very seriously and defends them feistily. It’s very important for women to do that”, as Radhika made the statement.

Bravo Radhika!!!! Once again, your attempt to woman empowerment and personifying individualism is worthy to be applauded!! Keep on impressing us like this.
