For the first time in India, a sci-fi superhero show called ‘Captain Vyom – The Space Warrior’ has been made in 90’s. It has been also one of the first and only trysts as far as sci-fi genre are concerned on television is concerned. Now, the show is going to be adapted after twenty years. Modern day avatars of the space warriors are expected to be seen with the new show. The makers have been planning on a franchise with five movies in addition to a web series with five parts. Previously, the show has been telecasted in Doordarshan TV starring Milind Soman.
Ketan Mehta has been the original creator of the show. For the new version of the show, the creator is expected to collaborate with the top notch production house. One of the sources has informed us, “The new-age adaptations, in the form of web shows and film series (five of each), will show the never-seen-before world in the sci-fi space, to Indian audiences.”
Confirming the news, Ketan Mehta has said “When we created India’s first sci-fi TV series (the first episode aired in 1998) in the form of Captain Vyom, it inspired a whole generation of kids at the turn of the century. Now, with India entering the space age, I am glad that Captain Vyom is being reinvented for the new age as a big screen spectacle, and the web space, with cutting-edge visual effects, for a global audience.”
Makers have been planning to develop a sci-fi thriller in the fantasy space that is expected to be similar to Hollywood sci-fi movies like Star Wars and Star Trek. Later on, our source has added “One of the top young Bollywood stars are in talks with the makers to play the lead character. If all goes well, work on the first film of the series will begin by mid-2021. Initially, makers had planned to start work on the film series in 2020 itself but Covid-19 delayed their plans.”
Maker Ketan Mehta has also said “Captain Vyom, an inter-galactic space adventure with a unique Indian perspective, can showcase the best of VFX and CGI talent of the country. Here’s raising a toast to Captain Vyom and new India”
