Hungama starring Akshaye Khanna, Rimi Sen and Aftab Shivdasani has been a sleeper hit by Priyadarshan when it has released in the year 2003. In fact, it has been remake of Hungana director’s Malayalam movie titled ‘Poochakkoru Mookkuthi’. It has been heard now that a sequel of the movie will be made. The news of a sequel has been confirmed by director Priyandarshan some time back only.
Earlier, Priyadarshan has said in an interview “It’s been six years since I directed a Hindi film. Now I am back with a full-on comedy. But no vulgarity no double meanings. Hungama 2 will be as clean and family-oriented as all my comedies.”
Later on, Priyadarshan has added “I know Hungama came 16 years ago. But people have still not forgotten it. Besides, I share a wonderful rapport with the producers Venus Records & Tapes. I’ve made many wonderful films with them including Garam Masala and Hulchul. I like all of my films with Venus except Tezz which I think was a misfire.”
He has also said “It will be a fresh story. We decided to title the new comedy Hungama 2 because the mood of Masti, mischief and Hungama remain unchanged.”
Regarding casting of the movie, Priyadarshan has said “Paresh Rawal will be back in the film, so will Shakti Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav. Only the lead pair Akshaye Khanna and Rimi Sen will change.”
Revealing further about the lead of Hungama 2, Priyadarshan has stated “Yes, we’ve found our male lead in Hungama 2 and it’s Meezaan. The boy is terrific on-screen. He is a fabulous dancer like his father, emotes and fights well too. There is nothing he can’t do.”
Talking about the tone of movie, Hera Pheri director has told us “It will be young, vibrant, warm, funny and family-oriented. In brief, a typical Priyadarshan comedy.”
