Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal have adopted a girl child who is four years old. The little girl has become a part of the family in the beginning of the year. However, the couple has decided to announce it now. The girl has been named Tara by Raj and Mandira. Both of them already have a son called Vir. Introducing the new member of the family through social media, Mandira Bedi has written “grateful thankful and blessed.” Tara has become an integral part of their small family.

Sharing a picture of the family, Mandira Bedi posts “She has come to us, Like a blessing from above. Our little girl, Tara. Four years and a bit. With eyes that sparkle like stars. Sister to her Vir. Welcoming her home. With open arms and pure love. Grateful, thankful. blessed. Tara Bedi Kaushal. Became a part of our family on 28th July 2020.”
Following to the announcement on the social media, the couple has been congratulated by friends. Congratulating Mandira, actress Anindita Bose has written “So so soooooo happy for y’all….Congratulations.” On the other hand, Chak De girl Vidya Malvare has said “God bless you & your little twinkling star…Tara.” Reacting to the post, nutritionist Pooja Makhija has said “Big hug to our Tara! You’ve waited longgggg for her”

Talking with a popular daily about the adoption, Mandira Bedi has revealed “Until the legal formalities are completed, one is not supposed to make it public. When a child comes home, he/she is considered to be in foster care for the first month; the legal procedures begin after that. However, since the courts were shut, we had to wait.”

Regarding the legal formalities, she has said “We had applied for adoption three years ago, but it was during the lockdown that I felt the void even more. So, I revisited my adoption application (filed before the Central Adoption Resource Authority). We realised that our wait has been long as we had mentioned a preference for three states from where we would have liked to adopt.”

Later on, she has also added “We were looking for an older child since we didn’t want too much of an age gap between her and Vir (the couple’s nine-year-old son). However, nobody matched the criteria. So, we were advised to extend our search across India. Within a week, we found Tara in a place near Jabalpur.”
