Last release of Deepika Padukone at the box office has been Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat which has released in 2018. So, she will be seen onscreen after almost two years in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. It is a movie that is based upon the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal. Regarding the movie, Deepika Padukone has said “With ‘Chhapaak’, the process was exhausting. We had to get the prosthetics done for like three hours and another hour to take it off. Emotionally I have never been as burnt out as I felt after that……On the last day, I asked Meghna to get made an extra piece. We got that, only for me to burn it at pack up. It was a hospital scene, we finished that and I took off my face (prosthetic), had a shower, took this extra piece, went to a corner, threw alcohol on it and burnt it.”
In addition to Chhapaak, Deepika Padukone has talked about her next movie on the line recently also. She has said, “I have found a film that I am likely to do early next year but it’s not light. It’s quite dark but still in the romance space.”
Post Chhapaak, Deepika will share screen with her husband and Padmaavat co-star Ranveer Singh also in Kabir Khan’s ’83 which is based on the Indian Cricket team’s World Cup win in 1983 under the captainship of Kapil Dev. Ranveer is playing the role of Kapil Dev here whereas Deepika will be seen in the role of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev. Release of the movie is scheduled on 10th January, 2020.
