Last year, it has been reported that Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro starrer movie The Intern is going to remade in Hindi starring Deepika Padukone. On the occasion, Kapoor & Sons actor Rishi Kapoor has been chosen for the Robert De Niro’s character. However, sudden death of Rishi Kapoor has changed everything. Sometime back, it has been heard that Paa actor Amitabh Bachchan may take the role of Rishi Kapoor in the remake of the movie The Intern.
Now, Deepika Padukone has confirmed the news through her Instagram post as she welcomes the veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan on board for the movie. On the occasion, Deepika has written “What an absolute honour to be collaborating with one of my most special co-star again! Welcoming @amitabhbachchan to the Indian adaptation of #TheIntern.”
Previously, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan have worked together in Shoojit Sircar’s movie Piku that has released in the year 2015. Both of them have portrayed father-daughter onscreen.
The Intern remake is being produced by Deepika Padukone and Sunil Khetripal under the banner of Ka Productions and Azure Entertainment. Amit Sharma will be directing the movie. Release of the movie has been scheduled in 2021. However, it has been pushed to summer of 2022 now.
Next, Deepika Padukone is expected to be seen in Ranveer Singh starrer ’83 as Romi Dev. In addition, Deepika Padukone has also shot for Shakun Batra’s untitled movie with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.
On the other hand, Amitabh Bachchan is busy with the shoots of ‘Good Bye’ by director Vikas Bahl at the moment. South Indian actor Rashmika Mandanna is part of the movie also. However, next release of Amitabh Bachchan is expected to be Rumi Jafry’s Chehre with Emraan Hashmi, Annu Kapoor, Siddhanth Kapoor, Krystle D’Souza, Raghuvir Yadav and Rhea Kapoor. Release of the movie has been scheduled on 9th April. However, the movie release has been postponed due to surge of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai recently.
