Nothing can be done at this situation. However, a question may come to your mind regarding their helplessness in spite of being high ranked officers.
Now, we can get a glimpse of Major Jai Dikshit aka Sidharth Malhotra who has been considered as an asset for the forces. However, he has become a rogue now. So, his mentor Colonel Abhay Singh aka Manoj Bajpayee is out to search him and avoid a big reveal. In the midst of all this Sonia played by Rakul Preet Singh, IT specialist has been dragged. Sonia usually hacks others computer to do online shopping. She takes the job of Jai’s secretary without knowing about his real motive at all.
Lot of sub plots can be found also which helps to get the grand picture. While you have been trying to understand why Jai has gone rogue, some other things may come to the purview also. Honest officers are excited with a bribe by ex-army man prior to blackmailing him. There is also an ammunition company that has attached themselves with an ex-army who has obsession for 3D model. These are sub plots that are tied at the end to highlight the final reveal. Following to the reveal, you may like to question everything.
Stars like Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra are working in the same movie. So, it is supposed to be excellent. In every frame, Sidharth has looked cool with his aviators and jackets. However, Manoj is the main soul of the movie that holds it together. Something extra has been brought by Manoj with his humour that has an undercurrent of sarcasm underneath. Comfort level between Manoj and director Neeraj Pandey is quite clear in the movie. Kasmir issue has been touched upon on the occasion too.
Most of the first half is lost in building characters and establishing loyalties. However, it cannot be accepted in a smart thriller. It is expected to be fast paced and full of suspense. In case of Aiyaary, you may shut your eye for some time and still nothing may be missed. Supporting cast does not have much to do in the movie unlike other movies of Neeraj Pandey. Blackmailers and officers have been communicating through Whatsapp which cannot be considered as the safest mode. Track with Sonia is just hilarious.
What should you do now?
If you are a lover of spy thriller as well as Neeraj Pandey then you can give Aiyaary a try. Fine performance of Manoj Bajpayee will be liked certainly.
