Remember those good old Doordarshan days? When we had just one channel and never needed the remote? When TV commercials didn’t flood our living rooms but were sparsely displayed?
Those were when these ladies sizzled. They are the first generation of Indian female supermodels.

Karen Lunel –
Ah, the freshening ad from Levers. She frolicked in the waterfalls egging you to use the lime-scented soap.
Mehr Jessia (Rampal) –
A supermodel and a Femina Miss India 1986 winner, she walked the ramp with fellow mates, Madhu Sapra, Namrata Shirodhkar, Shyamolie Verma. A style icon and a fiercely loyal woman, she married actor and model Arjun Rampal.
Madhu Sapre –
A supermodel of the ‘80s, she won the Femina Miss India award in 1992. She scorched the ramp but made headlines when she posed nude with Milind Soman with only a python between them! Madhu lives in Italy currently.
Feroze Gujral –
Her’s was a face that launched many well known brands in the 1990s including Palmolive, Lakme, Raymonds, Emami, Fair and Lovely, Black Velvet Whisky and Red and White cigarettes. Born to parents of mixed origin she was voted one of India’s most beautiful women.
Rachel Reuben –
Another model of the ‘80s she grew up in South Mumbai, with the likes of Shiamak Davar, Kittu Gidwani, Farrokh Chhotia, she was stunning in her way of asking people to eat the Parry’s éclairs.
At 47, she was heard ready for her first baby.
